Perlite is an environmentally friendly and natural soil amendment. It is a volcanic substance that has turned white and porous due to heat. The substance is mixed with soil, giving it an airy and porous texture. It also provides for oxygen uptake and makes seeds germinate faster and new roots root better. It is recommended to use it together with vermiculite, so that the soil retains moisture better.
