Safety data sheet: Biohansa straw pellets (PDF)
Natural bedding made from wheat straw
Biohansa straw pellets are made from wheat straw. The dense pellet takes up little storage space and breaks down into a softer bedding layer during use. It is suitable for horses, cattle, pigs and poultry when the quantity and care routine are adapted to the animal and housing.
Use in stalls and practical care
As a guide, a new approximately 10 m² stall requires about 135 kg, or 9 × 15 kg, for the initial bed. Spread a layer approximately 3–5 cm deep on a clean, dry floor. Lightly and evenly moisten the pellets if you want them to open more quickly into soft bedding. Allow the moisture to absorb and level the surface before bringing the horse into the stall.
- Daily: remove manure and visibly wet areas while leaving clean, usable bedding in place.
- Top-up: add material to worn areas and level the surface. Actual consumption depends on the horse, stall floor, turnout time and cleaning routine.
- Loose housing and resting areas: adapt layer depth to animal numbers, weather and the base; keep the covered lying area dry and sufficiently soft.
- If the horse eats pellets: moisten them before use or choose ready-crushed straw bedding, which looks less like feed pellets.
