Perlite for an airy, free-draining growing medium

Biohansa expanded perlite is a lightweight, porous volcanic mineral. Mixed into a growing medium, it creates air spaces, improves drainage and helps the structure remain open. It is suitable for seed starting, propagation, containers, cuttings, garden soil and, depending on the application, hydroponic growing.

Directions for use

• Potting and propagation mixes: add according to the crop water and air requirement; a common starting range is approximately 5–40% by volume.
• Biohansa general mix: 2 parts soil, 1 part perlite and 1 part vermiculite.
• Seed starting and propagation: add to improve aeration and root-zone oxygen.
• Cuttings: use in a mix or, where suitable, alone while providing appropriate water and nutrients.
• Compacted soil: incorporate into the root zone to improve structure and water movement.

Handling and storage

Lightly moisten before mixing if needed, pour gently and provide ventilation to minimise dust. Keep closed, dry and protected from rain.
