Three key benefits

Balances growing-medium moisture | Aerates the root zone | Suitable for sowing and cuttings

Vermiculite for moisture management

Biohansa expanded vermiculite is a lightweight, porous mineral component for growing media. It retains water and nutrients and releases them for plant use. Mixed into a medium, it helps maintain an airy and evenly moist root environment for seedlings, cuttings, containers and garden plants.

Directions for use

  • Light-germinating seed: sow on a moist surface and cover with a thin layer of vermiculite.
  • Other sowing and propagation: sow at the recommended depth and finish with a thin vermiculite layer.
  • Cuttings: use alone or in a growing-medium mix and keep evenly moist.
  • Pots and cell trays: mix into the medium or use as a surface layer to balance moisture.
  • Heavy or sandy soil: mix into soil to improve structure, aeration and water retention.

Technical properties

  • Material: expanded vermiculite
  • Function: retains water, nutrients and air within its porous structure
  • Role in a mix: moisture-balancing, lightweight mineral component
  • Nutrients: does not replace crop-appropriate fertilisation

Handling and storage

Pour and mix gently to minimise dust and provide ventilation. Keep closed, dry and protected from rain.
